Nature Reserve - Yellow Trail 3 km.
The walk is about 3km, and winds steeply up the old coastal cliff just west of the windy woods. The route goes to Isbjerg (Ice Mountain) that is Hanstholm Wildlife Reserve's highest point at 56m above sea level. From the top there is a magnificent view of the nature reserve, which is framed by the North Sea to the north, Tved Dune Plantation to the east and Nors Lake and Vilsbøl plantation south. This part of the nature reserve is the most northern part of Thy National Park.
The yellow route follows an old sunken road that was the only way out to the reserve's last standing house, which was demolished in 1939. From Isbjerg there is a path that runs through the forest and around the idyllic Bagsø (lake) and back to the starting point.
This trail is the first, in our top ten list, because we think it is such a unique and amazing trip that everyone should experience it, during a visit to Thy.

The route goes through a very diverse part of the forest with deciduous and coniferous forests of different characteristics. Large and lush growths found in the areas where the soil is fertile. On the raised banks and in areas where there has been sand drift, you'll find individual stands of conifers.
