The national test center for large wind turbines, in Østerild, was launched in October 2012.
The test center allows for testing of 7 new wind turbines, up to 250 meters high. These are some of the biggest, and most modern, windmills in Europe!
Parliament passed, back in June 2010, a Public Works Act to establish a national test center for wind turbines at Østerild, in Thy. The test center will contribute to Denmark, to retain its leading position in the development of new wind turbine technology and encourage the increased production of renewable energy in Denmark, including more energy from wind turbines.
Construction work started in the summer of 2011, and the first test windmill was set up in autumn 2012.
